Well, the Arsenal boys did us proud this day. They had Chelsea outgunned for the most part. But for the offside goal by Drogba we would have been looking at extra time or even a shootout and who knows? Chelsea are known grinders though and the Gunners defense had looked a bit shaky. Arsenal vs Chelsea Halftime Report : What a match!

A humdinger of a match I said here and it’s every bit the one I expected. Arsene fielded a young side, no Henry, Lehmann, Ljungberg to buck Arsenal up; it’s the young ‘uns day out today, and they’ve proved themselves so far at halftime. Theo Walcott at a tender 17 years scored his first goal for Arsenal, slotting the ball past the likes of Cech, with Arsenal opening the scoring at 10 minutes past kickoff. Continue reading

EPL: Man U 9 points clear at the top

Man U continue their dream run in the EPL, 9 points clear of second-place Chelsea. Today they narrowly beat a resurgent Fulham. Man U never really looked in control of the match with a shaky defence. Team captain Gary Neville’s absence from the field and the bench was a surprise, but Man U’s inability to control the ball was an even bigger one. Fulham managed to create several strong chances and finally a mixup on the defensive side enabled Brian McBride to strike one in for the Cottagers. Continue reading

Champions League: Arsenal lose to PSV 1-0

In what’s a surprise for Arsenal fans, Arsenal’ve gone and lost to PSV 1-0. It almost reads like the Blackburn story, except that this time PSV managed to get one in. Lehmann’s attempt at save was rather lazy; he seemed to favour his left side, and the resulting chink in his armour was enough. Continue reading

EPL: Arsenal held by Blackburn 0-0 in the FA Cup 5th Round

Arsenal were held yesterday to a 0-0 draw by an overly turtling Blackburn. I saw the match from the 30th minute onwards, but what was clear was an overly defensive Blackburn which put men behind the ball for the entire first half. Continue reading
